Bill Korb is an Army combat veteran, STEM graduate, and IT professional who has spent his life serving others—first in uniform, now in his community, and soon in the Michigan Legislature. He is a reader, a bass player, and a community activist, but above all, he is someone people can depend on. Bill believes leadership is proven through action, not talk, and he is running to bring that kind of integrity to Lansing.
Bill grew up in Cedar Springs, Michigan, and joined the Army at 18 so he could afford college. His service took him across the country and overseas, where he studied electronic systems and worked in Military Intelligence. He served eight years, including a combat deployment in Afghanistan, and earned a reputation for attention to detail, clear communication, and protecting the people under his watch. After leaving the military, he continued his work with the Department of Defense as an IT specialist, building what is now a 20-year career in technology.
In 2017, Bill moved back home to Michigan and settled in Galesburg. Living here has strengthened his love for this state, from its beauty to its people and culture. It has also shown him firsthand how decades of “business as usual” politics have failed working families. Bill is tired of leaders more interested in posturing than solving problems. He believes it’s time for representatives who are honest about the challenges people face, unafraid to speak plainly, and ready to meet the moment.
Bill’s priorities are shaped by his own lived experience and the stories he hears from his neighbors. He knows what it means to struggle with mental health, and he receives care through the VA, which is just one of the many reasons he believes healthcare must be a human right. He understands how corporate influence warps public policy, which is why he refuses all corporate PAC and SuperPAC money. Bill is committed to removing money from politics and restoring government to the people it is meant to serve.
From fighting for higher wages and fair scheduling, to protecting Michigan’s lakes and forests, to defending reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights, and immigrant protections, Bill is running because he believes every person deserves dignity, opportunity, and safety. He also believes elected officials should have a vision larger than “not my opponent.” They should stand for something real, listen to their communities, and never hide from the people they represent.
Bill looks up to his mother, who worked for the State of Michigan her entire career and showed him what service, honesty, and hard work really mean. She taught him that leadership is about showing up for people, not for praise, because it’s the right thing to do.
As State Representative, Bill’s mission is simple: to improve the lives of the workers and consumers who are the true economic engine of Michigan. He wants to leave behind a legacy of economic justice, strengthened public institutions, and a government that people can trust. When voters talk about him years from now, Bill hopes they’ll say: “He was authentic, he cared about us, and he never backed down from his values.”
